Imagine that, "dr.s are capitalists", da! Unless the government pays them a great salary, naturally they will want to make money. These leftists drive me crazy. One big reason other than doctors get and deserve a nice salary, is frivolous lawsuits have driven the cost up, something the left can't acknowledge. Doctors spend 500k just in liability insurance annually.
I can't answer your question, but the insurance companies are a giant force on capital hill, almost as big as the unions and just as corrupt. Many politicians pockets get lined with the green stuff. These politicians don't spend millions for nothing to gain office. What legislation took control of our care away from drs and gave it to the insurance companies? It's the free market at work. Costs are so high, most people can pay. Dr.s are capitalists, they are in it to make a profit; dr's don't want to do anything they won't get paid for, so they only do what they KNOW the insurance will approve for payment, hence the insurance company says who gets what. God bless capitalism. What legislation took control of our care away from drs and gave it to the insurance companies?
Started in the 70's.
You can thank Ted Kennedy for the HMO Act of 1973.
Yes, he had a bottle of Chivas-Regal in his hand when he signed it.What legislation took control of our care away from drs and gave it to the insurance companies?I would say when we got HMO's, PPO's. Then the insurance co. made agreement with doctors to do work at a certain price. So now doctors have to follow the insurance guidelines. What legislation took control of our care away from drs and gave it to the insurance companies?
The Insurance companies are not involved unless you hire them. The doctors would much rather deal with you and cash.
