1. Guarantees that Insurance can not be refused to anyone, regardless of pre-existing conditions, and
2. Control of the profit margins for the middle-man, Insurance Companies. (When they're taking over 20% profits on a required comodity, and most private businesses go with 8% or less, we know we're getting screwed)
For me, I'm willing to drop the government options (medicare for all, or VA for all) if we can get those 2 things. What are the Basics that you want out of Health Care legislation? In the UK we have National Health Service paid for out of taxation, free for all on demand, but medication prescriptions have to be paid for at around 拢7, per prescription.
Dental care is a little different and and has to be partly, or wholly paid for,
That i would like to see extended world wide paid for by GDP.What are the Basics that you want out of Health Care legislation?
Yeah, compare the tax REPLACING the cost of insurance and you're really not losing a thing. Insurance companies already violate your privacy, but are far sneakier about it than the government. Insurance then sells YOUR info to your boss. Gov't won't do this. It's too much work. LOL.

What are the Basics that you want out of Health Care legislation? When you control profits you have gone too far. You would be more comfortable in a communist country. What industry should be limit salaries and profit in next? Grocery stores? ISP's, Should be cap doctors salaries? You are headed down a very slippery slope. Get ready for the bread lines, your kind of thinking creates them.In answer to you question I want the following
Tort Reform
More competition across state lines.
And medicare available to those who cannot get insured anywhere else because of preexisting conditions.
Let's see if they can get this much right before they really **** it all up.
Here are my thoughts on what you said you wanted.
1. That is a terrible idea, it is like saying that someone should be able to buy auto insurance after an accident.
2. If we can set a precedent by controlling the profits of the insurance industry, what is to keep the government from controlling the profits of more important industries such a food, oil, and the auto industry. The only reason people invest in companies, or create companies is to earn a profit.
I actually agree with all of Uncle Joe Stalin's ideas. What are the Basics that you want out of Health Care legislation?1. only catastrophic coverage - if you have a runny nose, bite the bullet and pay for the office visit
2. portability - why can't a company in Virginia offer policies to someone in West Virginia
3. Have absolutely nothing to do with the federal government
4. Include some sort of tort reform. God knows we don't need another shyster like John Edwards making millions on liability - causing insurance costs for drs to rise and then having those costs passed on to patients
5. Deny coverage to illegals. What are the Basics that you want out of Health Care legislation?
1. TORT reform---actually will lower the cost of health care. What a concept.
2. Open Competition between health care providers nation wide...When will libs learn when the bureaucrats get involved it makes things worse not better?
3.Increase medical savings accounts....putting the individual in charge of their own health care...Could it be possible?
I strongly support the public Option . With out the public option there will continue to be No Competition for the Medical Health Ins industry .
As an older voting almost life time Democrat - I am very upset with the Democrats in the Senate - so much so I may consider voting Independent or the Green Party come the Next election. What are the Basics that you want out of Health Care legislation?
Every American citizen deserves a public option for both ER care and extended care. The government has been shown to run things more efficiently than the private sector anyway. I would switch right away. Let people keep their insurance if they want -- it's their loss.
1. A person who needs medical care is able to afford it without losing his life savings or having to file bankruptcy.
2. Nobody is denied health care because of a true inability to pay.
The control of profit will be difficult. And I think your estimate is based on earnings (profit after taxes), so profit is even higher.
But if we get something it will be a victory (no matter how small) after a 60 year fight. Not bad for a 1st year president.
End the anti-trust exemption that has allowed insurance companies to operate in monopolies and to collect premiums for insurance that they will not pay if you have a claim.
someone else to pay for me and top-notch doctors
--- typical dem
You HAVE to buy insurance at all times that way you can't whine about having a pre-existing condition and risk being turned down because you are "cheating" the system.
