Are police legally required to enforce the law in Victoria, Australia & If so under what legislation?

If you report a breach of the law to the police and they fail to do anything about it can they be compelled to act. If you don't get satisfaction then approach your local member of parliament either for the state or federal government and explain the problem. You can make official complaints but I would go to a seperate police station to the one you were having trouble with.
