Why are Republicans for gun rights, but against marijuana legislation?

Republicans preach "personal responsibility" and less government intervention, seems pretty hypocritical to me.

You complain about government spending. How about we downsize the DEA, stop putting people in prison for it, legalize it, and tax it.Why are Republicans for gun rights, but against marijuana legislation? Now that The Constitution is being cited how about you folks check out Amendments 9 %26amp; 10?

Once upon a time politicians respected, obeyed, and [in the case of Alcohol Prohibition] Amended The Constitution. Not anymore. The government just does as it pleases because the American jellyfish [no backbone, they just go with the flow] are more concerned about sports, celebrity gossip, and other meaningless drivel than to stand up and defend their freedom.

Ron Paul is the ONLY Republican [or Member of Congress for that matter] who actually takes The Constitution seriously. Wish there were more like him!Why are Republicans for gun rights, but against marijuana legislation?
Well first of all, we have a constitutional right to arms. You do not necessarily have a constitutional right to marijuana.

Secondly. I'm a pretty conservative republican. I'm for gun rights. I'm for legalizing marijuana. I have quite a few republican friends and most of them are pro-marijuana, whether or not they partake in it.Why are Republicans for gun rights, but against marijuana legislation? You get high on marijuana every time, which interferes with your motor skills, your judgement, and blocks the signal to your brain which controls your hunger (which you can overeat and suffocate to death).

The government won't benefit from legalizing marijuana, plus, those dirtbags who produce it will go unpunished.
Because many republicans (mostly the old people) were raised in the "Reefer Madness period" and fell for it ... the whole movie is on youtube. And it's brainwashing at its finest (and a lot of school in the 30's was forced to show the movie to kids).

The thing is... people should be for marijuana legislation whether they are a republican or democrat. It's the right to do whatever you want to your own body as long as no one else gets hurt by it.Why are Republicans for gun rights, but against marijuana legislation? They want to remain wealthy and powerful, but fail to realize that they are also in turn being controlled.

In the state of Maine, they can prescribe marijuana to people, if you're licensed and giving the state money for it. Yet if I'm smoking a joint in my car I'm a criminal. Why are Republicans for gun rights, but against marijuana legislation?
They aren't against marijuana legislation; in fact there is already legislation that exists that makes marijuana illegal in most states. That aside, I find it strange that you compare a constitutional right with an illegal drug.
No where in the Constitution does it say, "...to make hemp clothes, the right of the people to smoke pot Shall not be infringed.". But it does say: " the Right of the people to keep and bear arms, Shall not be infringed"Why are Republicans for gun rights, but against marijuana legislation?
The Second Amendment guarantees me the legal right to own a gun. The Constitution itself does not discuss marijuana.

Legalizing marijuana will not have the tax benefits most pro legalization people believe.
I know a lot of conservatives who are for legalizing, in fact it is our president who is against it. Maybe he doesn't want to piss off the cartels.
The thing is the constitution specifically mentions the right to bear arm, and I understand libertarians are pro-legalization.
get real to anyone who is against legalizing marijuana
they are craaaazy
