There's loads of legislation:

Data Protection Act

Children's Act

United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child

Disability Discrimination Act

Human Rights Act

Health and Safety Act

These are just a few - there are more, depending on the level of course you are doing you may need to look up a few more.What are the main pieces of legislation that relates to safeguarding children and young people..?In Northern Ireland you have the Children's Act [NI] 1995 which sets out legislation in relation to the safeguarding young people as well as promoting their overall welfare.

Within social services you would have policies and procedures for issues such as child protection, child in need, looked after children. Hope that helps.
