What is breed specific legislation?

I've just recently heard about this but what EXACTLY is it? I've heard that people are having their dogs confiscated and euthanized for no specific reason other than their breed. Which is a shame, we own a APB and she is the most loving, sweet natured, chilren oriented animal I've ever owned. They ought to make legislation to euthenize the owners of any dog that is bred and raised to fight or be aggressive.
