..instead of consumers paying for it in higher gasoline prices.
Should they be forced to liquidate like other failed businesses?Should there be new legislation that forces oil companies to suffer financial losses for their mistakes?LA and FL should sue British Patroleum into oblivion.Should there be new legislation that forces oil companies to suffer financial losses for their mistakes?...that Legislation already exists ! (BP is going to have to PAY for the consequences of what is happening in the Gulf.)Should there be new legislation that forces oil companies to suffer financial losses for their mistakes?Yeah that would be great. Maybe something that says anyone in the company who makes over X amount of dollars must have they pay reduced by X percent. Probably will never happen but I bet there would never be an oil spill again.Should there be new legislation that forces oil companies to suffer financial losses for their mistakes?
Pay with what? Consumers are their only source of income. You cannot enjoy the benefits of Oil Companies and then lambaste them when something bad happens. If you do, there will be no one willing to take any risk to bring you the products and services you want and need.
