http://davekopel.org/2a/Mags/The-Failure鈥?/a>How do hunters in Canada even get to hunt with all this crazy legislation?Just a quick comment to BW022 - the comment about more firearms per capita in Canada is flat wrong. The manipulation of the data is that EVERY firearm purchase is registered to a person, while in the US while the purchase of a firearm is captured locally by the gun shop it is not part of a nationwide database or any such registration.
Therefore, the vast majority of firearms owners in the US, they are "unregistered". Based on sales data, there are over 300 million legally purchased firearms in the US, and something like 50 - 100 million firearm owners in the US, so between 18% - 30%. Because the US does not try and hamper personal sale it is intentionally unknown where the guns are. - Which is a good thing.
I'm far from an expert on Canadian firearms laws, but the idea that somehow Canadians even per capital have more firearms than the US is ridiculous.
ThinkingbladeHow do hunters in Canada even get to hunt with all this crazy legislation? There are more personal firearms (per capita) in Canada than there are in the United States. There are over three million registered gun owners in Canada -- about 10% of the population. I fail to see how Canada's laws make it difficult to obtain firearms or hunt. I guess the millions of Canadians took the time to fill out the necessary paperwork rather than reading US gun nuts complain about how "bad" it is to get licensed in Canada.
Why do Americans waste their time making bogus complaints about other people's laws? How do hunters in Canada even get to hunt with all this crazy legislation?hi there
ontario hunter here, been hunting here for 50 years, aside from the long gun registry i have no problem with the canadian laws, i have had hand guns and restircted weapons with the proper licences , i bow hunt and rifle hunt, did my hunter saftey course and pal course, no problems. what is your problem, if you had your way would you allow anybody at any time to just go to wallmart and buy a rifle, shotgun or hand gun without ever having been trained to use one then carry it out of the store with a box of shells and walk down the street with it uncased and maybe stop in for a cruller and coffee at timmy's,get a brain ,the rules are there for your protection and mine, play by the rules and there is no problems for the canadian hunters.
