Are Dems planning on submitting any legislation on the debt issue?

Or are they just going to not vote for anything from republicans and not submit anything of their own thereby guaranteeing a partial government shutdown? Are Dems planning on submitting any legislation on the debt issue? Why bother if you are not in control of the House or Senate? Better to hammer something out with the other side. Are Dems planning on submitting any legislation on the debt issue?
Yeah. Look up "Senate debt ceiling plan."Are Dems planning on submitting any legislation on the debt issue? They have, but since it closed tax loopholes the GOP turned it down.
You must have been on another planet. Their stance is to close tax loopholes for the wealthy and the GOP turned it down flat.

That doesn't matter anyway. Obama is allowing Congress, especially conservative republicans and republicans in general a chance to get it right.

If they can't get their heads out of their rear ends, he will invoke 'executive privilege' and go it alone. That's his job when Congress fails the nation.

Now Bush 43, 41, and Reagan did this constantly with the debt ceiling with republican Congresses.

Why can't the repubs back off and do exactly what they did for Bush 43, who is responsible for 45% of the present debt ??!!Are Dems planning on submitting any legislation on the debt issue?Apparently not.

Republicans = 3 plans (so far)

Democrats = 0 plans (so far)Are Dems planning on submitting any legislation on the debt issue?
The Democrat Party doesn't solve problems. EVER. They just whine and complain. When anyone else puts forward a solution they demagogue it. This is what the Democrat party calls leadership and how they "solve" American's problems.
I have my doubts that they will. They will shut the Gov down and Oblamo will blame Bush again. Are Dems planning on submitting any legislation on the debt issue?
Well the Senate hasn't even bothered to submit a budget in the last two and a half years under Harry Reid. They don't want to submit a plan, they just want to crucify anyone else that does submit a plan.
No, they just want to demagogue all of the actual work that the GOP is doing.
Any actual bills on contentious issues have to be either negotiated in advance or else they are purely for political purposes, in order to demonstrate a vote. With a Republican House and a Democratic Senate, nothing controversial will get through without agreement. Introducing a broad bill without that is just for show.

Fiscal bills like this can only start in the House, under the Constitution, which is controlled by Republicans, so the only political votes have been by bills brought to a vote by Republican speaker Boehner. Democrats couldn't even get a bill to a vote, so there is no point in submitting an actual bill, as opposed to a plan that can be negotiated.

Democrats have put forward several plans on the negotiating table. Obama wants a plan with 3-1 spending cuts to tax increases. The spending cuts in the plan were negotiated and agreed in the talks with Biden, but the Republicans walked out when they started talking about the tax increases, as though they didn't know all along that was part of the deal.

The first Democrat plan, of course, was a clean bill. Republicans brought it to the floor for a vote after whipping up a vote against it as a political move to demonstrate that it wouldn't pass.

My plan, which Bill Clinton recently said he would do at this point if he were President, is to just unilaterally raise the debt ceiling under the authority of section 4 of the 14th amendment. It would be better if Obama had gotten a declarative judgement from the Supreme Court in advance, because without that, a unilateral move would cause some increases in interest rates (though much less than a default), but it is now the best of few remaining bad options. Both Clinton's and Reagan's strategy for forcing Republicans to give them a clean bill recently came out too. This has always been a problem, but we've never gotten this close to an actual default.
The better question is... since revenue bills MUST start in the House of Representatives.... are Republicans going to submit ANYTHING that isn't pandering to the far right or are they going to continue to stall and walk the economy off a cliff.

They are the majority.... THEY have responsibilities.... and they have UTTERLY FAILED to do their jobs for 6 months now. Thanks Tea Party.... you have successfully brought your nation to it's knees...

and yet you GLOAT that you have done so. 2012 will be the LAST we ever hear of the TEA PARTY... you all BLEW YOUR CHANCE.

Who would have thought the people that RAN ON CHILDISH IDEAS.... bicker like children and refuse to legislate.
