How does the US get legislation passed to make Hydrogen Fuel Cells more economical than fossil fuels?

Right now the only way to do that would be to tax the heck out of fossil fuels so that they become more expensive. We currently don't have the technology to make hydrogen cheaper, so the only thing you could theoretically do would be to make fossil fuels more expensive. That of course would be ludicrous, but that's how you would do it.How does the US get legislation passed to make Hydrogen Fuel Cells more economical than fossil fuels?It does not as the production of hydrogen on large scales for the moment is still based on fossil fuels...

Long story short: hydrogen is by far a sub-optimal solution as it is costly and more difficult to implement than many other solutions.

No energy strategist at this point considers realistically the large use of fuel cells in cars. The very high investment cost can only be justified for a utilization rate well over 70%... (so not for cars which are driven less than 10% of the time).How does the US get legislation passed to make Hydrogen Fuel Cells more economical than fossil fuels?
it they do they're idiots. the only practical source for hydrogen (without unlimited high voltage) is methane. to take methane which is safe and burns well on its own and break it into a lower density fuel like hydrogen is stupid. methane can be piped from place to place or otherwise already be conveyed through an existing infrastructure directly to your garage or gas station now. hydrogen would take billions of dollars in new infrastructure. the auto industry can make I.C.E. motors that can run on methane or natural gas with only minor modifications to the fuel lines and injection manifolds but fuel cells are expensive and inefficient. hydrogen is a distraction from real alternative auto tech.How does the US get legislation passed to make Hydrogen Fuel Cells more economical than fossil fuels?It is not legislation, but technological improvement and the free market that will "make" an alternative energy source economical.

I am in the process of applying for a permit to install a solar system on my house. the total cost of the materials vs. what electrical load they will replace is very high. In fact the payback at present if 30 years for me, (longer than the panels are expected to last). But this is an improvement over only say 5 years ago. Manufacturing methods have brought the cost down considerably.

We should not look to government for anything that we cannot possibly work out ourselves.How does the US get legislation passed to make Hydrogen Fuel Cells more economical than fossil fuels?
Legislation and economics are diametrically opposed. Hydrogen fuel cells will be more economical when gas is $20 per gallon.How does the US get legislation passed to make Hydrogen Fuel Cells more economical than fossil fuels?by keeping Hemp illegal . knowing it is the only solution to the problem . but it is cheep and reliable it will grow in almost every zone . needs no Pest asides or herb asides . requires less water . grows fast with little work . and will shut down most chemical company's that only harm the environment .How does the US get legislation passed to make Hydrogen Fuel Cells more economical than fossil fuels?
First we pass a law repealing the laws of nature.
Hello Lawrence,

Simple, TAX, TAX, TAX!!! Read your other

answers, they are quite good. Fuel cells have there place

and should be researched. But on a practical matter,

hydrogen is not so good. On a land based plant, it can work

but in a car or boat there are problems. It would be cheaper

and safer to use ethanol --- cars run GREAT on it. Fire up

the moonshine still !!!!!!! (-:|%26gt;
