Because Republicans like most politicians like more power and their voters respond to things like reducing government but as soon as Republicans get into office they drastically increase government power in people's personal lives and reduce government regulation on industry and financial sectors which let's corporations insert themselves further into people's personal lives.Why do conservatives say they want less government but always puts forth legislation that regulates our lives?Yeah, like forcing women to view sonograms of their fetus before they can be considered for an abortion. That's the "social engineering" that Newt Gingrich was speaking of. That is the stupidest law yet, from a state that has more than a few on the books.
